What’s inside my head and how it can help your business

Yesterday, I got back from the first 2-day ‘Small Business Marketing Workshop’ run by the very smart Jonathan Jay in his new business venture Success Track.

The purpose of the 2-day workshop was for Jonathan to share his own experience in what does and doesn’t work in terms of marketing a business. Jonathan also offered a ‘marketing clinic’, where attendees could (perhaps crushingly honestly in some cases!) receive a critique of their current marketing materials and approach (note to anyone who attended here — you will of course get the irony of Jonathan describing this in his own words as “a clinic”!).

It won’t always work

Making mistakes doesn’t mean you aren’t doing your Thing, or that you don’t have a great business. It just means you tried something and it didn’t work. That is all.

Now it might be that you chose the wrong time, the wrong offer, the wrong price, the wrong message, the wrong media, the wrong delivery method, the wrong title, …who knows? It might just have been the wrong day!

It doesn’t mean what you are doing is wrong. It just means something in the variable of what you did wasn’t right (and when I say right I mean right for your market—your ideal clients).

Don’t DIY if it’s not your Thing

Don’t DIY if it’s not your Thing. Not only will you be too busy doing ‘stuff’ that you won’t have time to do your Thing as much, but you’ll be using up valuable headspace even thinking about it (while not even doing it!).

Get in an expert, someone who’s Thing it is, and stop doing stuff just because you can.

Your mission is to do your Thing, not get busy with DIY that’s not making a difference.
