Driving Directions

If you are heading into Poole from North, South or East (from the M27 at the end of the M3 onto the A31):

You’ll drive in along the main road into Bournemouth (DO NOT FOLLOW SIGNS TO POOLE!) turning off just after Ringwood – A338 (known as the Wessex Way).

It’s a few miles down this road until you head into the 50mph limit at Bournemouth (with lots of cameras so don’t speed unless you want your photo taken!) you’ll get to a roundabout (and now it’s 40 mph so watch out!). Straight over this roundabout, under a couple of bridges then onto the next roundabout in the RIGHT-HAND LANE (to 'Poole') as you need to go straight over here. Then along until the road bends to the left (you’re now in 30 mph) and you'll see 3 lanes at the traffic lights. Take the LEFT lane (you’re now facing the big ‘Liverpool Victoria’ building) and if you can see it there is a sandcastle image painted in the road–you now follow the sandcastles. Stay in the outside lane of this three-lane roundabout and take the SECOND EXIT (so it’s kind of straight on) following signs to ‘the beaches’ and the sandcastle again.

Follow this road down (through the traffic lights) you’ll then get to see the sea (yay!) as you follow the road right and up a hill. At the top of the hill you drive through a row of shops (this is Canford Cliffs) then after the shops is a small roundabout (with a Loch Fyne restaurant on your left). TURN LEFT here and follow the road around to the harbour, but now pay close attention because as soon as the road starts to descend down the steep hill to the harbour front (after a right-hand bend), you'll be passing the hotel entrance on your left (i.e. if you get to the harbour, you've just gone too far!).

If you’re heading from the West on the A35 and driving in via Poole on the A350:

Follow all the signs to ‘Sandbanks’ and ‘the beaches’ (brown signs). You’ll get yourself onto Sandbanks road (after the Town Hall) and follow this road ALL the way to the harbour–you’ll pass through a narrow railway bridge (breathe in!) and keep driving through a row of shops & petrol station (Lilliput) and then down a hill where on the right you’ll see the harbour. Once you have descended down to the harbour-side road, follow the right-hand curve around a short way until you come to a main left-hand turning (signposted to Bournemouth and beyond)... TURN LEFT HERE away from the water and ascend for around 300 yards until you see the hotel on your right (around three-quarters of the way up the hill).

Parking

Parking at the hotel is FREE but you MUST REGISTER your car registration number at reception (even if you are not staying overnight) as they have an ‘eye’ in the car park that will issue a fine if you don’t register.

By Train

If you are travelling by train then the closest main stations are Bournemouth and Poole. Poole is around 10 minutes away in a taxi and Bournemouth 15 minutes in a taxi. The fares will be around £10 & £15 respectively (both these main stations have a taxi rank right outside).

Trains from London depart from Waterloo (www.southwesttrains.co.uk), and there are cross-country services (www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk) that connect at Southampton or come straight through from the Midlands, North and Scotland (these terminate in Bournemouth).

By Air

Nearest airports are Bournemouth (20 minutes in a taxi) (www.bournemouthairport.com) and Southampton (www.southamptonairport.com) (45 minutes on the train). London Heathrow is around 90 minutes drive away and there are direct coach links (www.nationalexpress.com) or a pre-booked taxi is around £90 one-way. If you’d like an airport pick up let my team know and we’ll connect you with local airport cars that can transfer you.
