OK so I know that will remind anyone of a certain age the theme song from Record Breakers (or is that just me?) but that's no bad reminder. We all need to set ourselves some world records to break from time to time. Or at least some 'personal bests'.
I have been feeling a bit under the weather the past couple of days, so my dedication of course has also waned. Then I see this article and video about Eddie Kidd still running the London Marathon (that started almost 5 weeks ago - and for most people finished the same day). He is covering a few hundred metres a day most days. Which is incredible for a severely disabled man.
So that defined dedication for me today. And served as reminder that even when I am having a 'bad day' or that my body is a little unwell, there are other people out there with bigger challenges, bigger obstacles to their success, or even survival. And there are amazing people like Eddie everywhere, every day.
Think about what you could do in your business or life if you just had an ounce of what Eddie or any number of amazing individuals had right now. And isn't it interesting how we actually all have this capability in reserve but it usually takes something huge to happen before we call on it. Certainly makes me think.
When I speak for Being a Business Celebrity I always recommend people turn it up 'one louder' on their marketing or visibility dial. Maybe just one more is not enough :)
My dedication has been reaffirmed today - the energy to do something bold re-ignited. What about you?
Want to talk more about this?
Thanks for this Lucy. I love these sentiments and what Eddie Kidd is doing is truly humbling. As for your last comment, I definitely need to turn up the volume to 10 times louder than it is now … watch this space!! Thanks for this lovely post.
I usually say just go ‘one louder’ to show people it can be a step by step process. Sometimes though you just have to JUMP and crank it up!! :)
Thanks for this Lucy. I truly appreciate this little awakener. Sometimes we can all get caught up in our own little world and become blinkered to just what is important. Particularly when busy.
Eddie is an inspiration to millions, and when people are feeling low, just pause for a second and re-assess what really matters on a bigger scale. I’ve certainly been inspired.
Best to put my hands up when I am in my own ‘stuff’ when I have no reason to be! Glad you liked the post.
