Looking out the window gives you time to think and ponder. I use it productively to come up with ideas and solutions. For me sometimes thinking too hard about something doesn’t give the best solution. A watched pot never boils and all that :)

If you spend a lot of your time being busy you will miss your best ideas. You will be too busy looking ahead that you may miss what is right in front of you.

This keeps happening to me.

I wait for ‘someone’ to say something, do something or share something or sell something and they don’t. So I wait some more. And then I realise I have to do it!

Give them what they want (but make it what they need)

You should always be listening to your market and offering products and services they want. That’s common business sense. That said, sometimes you may know that what they (your market) ‘want’ is not what they ‘need’. The trick here is a to strike a balance and meet them where they are, then gently ‘steer’ them to where you know lies a better answer.

Putting the lipstick on

Sometimes what I do is just ‘putting on lipstick’. Your Thing might be like that too?

My Thing is that I ‘find’ people’s Things–I don’t create them/make them/invent them as they are already there. But what I do (as an outsider, which makes it a lot easier) is to ‘see’ what people don’t see for themselves. And then the next stage is usually to tidy it all up and ‘put on lipstick’.

Thought I’d offer you something practical you can do today (as long as you have an hour to spare).

There are lots of things you can do in an hour to get you more famous (for doing your Thing) so why not see what you can get done in an hour for you and your business.

Remember to ONLY do what is your media ‘Thing’ – only ‘do’ what is an extension of how you already like to communicate and turn this into your media (I know I go on about this when I work with someone so am not making an exception here!).
