Your Thing is on the end of your nose. And the thing about your Thing being on the end of your nose, is that you can't see the end of your OWN nose. You need someone else to tell you what's on the end of your own nose (or a mirror). And this is why I have a coach and a mentor. I 'know' what I want to do with my business, and where I want to take it and usually I have an answer to how to do that... doesn't mean I can see the wood for the trees and know clearly my next steps!
When I am chatting with people about what I do I always say there are two types of people I work with—both are at A and want to get to B: Type One has NO IDEA how to get from A to B. Type Two has 100,000,000 ideas about how to get from A to B. I am Type Two :)
Whatever type you are, having 'someone else' (and this could be a coach, a mentor, a team member, a friend—whoever you like) to help you work out what to do next, what to focus on, what will bring results for you and your business is really really useful. In fact I'd argue it's more than useful; it's VITAL.
Having a coach or mentor (who you will be paying for) versus a friend or other person you've got supporting you is that, typically, you'll value their advice more.
How many times have you given advice for free and not seen any action taken? Yeah, it happens to the best of us :)
Any kind of investment—whether that's time, money, travel, giving up another opportunity—will give advice VALUE. Even when I 'give away' advice (I offer free spotlight calls) I ask for an investment of time—there's a form to submit in advance and a diary slot to commit to.
I know for sure when I take time out and 'invest' in a coach or mentor I get results. It's why (well, for me anyway!) I do WAY more exercise with a personal trainer than on my own at the gym. Having someone else makes you do what you do better.
All you need to decide is who you need—a cheerleader? a coach? an advisor? a mentor? a guide? a champion? a teacher? all of those things wrapped up in one?
Having someone else can make you doing your Thing so much easier, bigger, better, quicker, profitable and more.
I like having someone else on my side.
Want to talk more about this?
I totally agree Lucy!
Once I discovered the benefits of coaching/mentoring, I have over the last few years invested in Business Coaches, a Marketing Coach (YOU! :-)), Law of Attraction Coaches, a Nutrition Coach, a Dating Coach, a Health Coach and as of today an Ice Skating Coach!
I know that this investment is money well spent, since the expertise and support of a mentor/coach gets me to where I want to go quicker, avoiding all the potholes, and they give me the support and motivation I need just when I need it.

And isn’t life easier when you get someone else involved? I know I love knowing just what to focus on :)
