What I know about flow

I would love to tell you that I wake up in ‘full flow’ every single day and do my Thing with no distractions, interruptions or procrastination on my part. I would love to tell you that–except, of course, it’s not true.

What is true is that I know what to do, or at least what usually ‘helps’, to shift me into flow mode. It’s not always the same set of actions, but there are a few things I can choose from.

Dedication. It’s what you need.

We all need to set ourselves some world records to break from time to time. Or at least some ‘personal bests’.

I have been feeling a bit under the weather the past couple of days, so my dedication of course has also waned. Then I see this article and video about Eddie Kidd still running the London Marathon (that started almost 5 weeks ago – and for most people finished the same day). He is covering a few hundred metres a day most days. Which is incredible for a severely disabled man.

There comes a time with every idea that you need to get on with it. Of course you want to plan, work out the details, explore the options, do some research, perhaps even do a little bit of learning to make sure you’re all set. BUT there will come a time when you simply need to get on with it.

Location is important to me. Where I ‘work’ has a big impact for me on how I ‘do’ my Thing. And I also want to make a mark, an impact for my clients in their calendar – to mark a day of change, and new moves. A great location adds to this hugely for me.

Let it happen

Sometimes (in fact quite often!) I do something not knowing what will exactly will come of it. This is usually when ‘logic’ gets replaced by intuition when I just ‘know’ I need to do something or go somewhere or connect with someone. Always when I do this something great comes of it. It’s not something you can put on your marketing plan I’ll agree, but leave space for it!
