Give yourself permission (er, NOW)

Permission is something we don’t actually need, but SO many of us feel we do. I know that I used to want it. A lot.

Because, of course, there isn’t really anyone who is stopping you from doing your Thing, from being as famous as you want to be, from standing in a super-bright spotlight, from doing exactly what you want to do the way you want to do it (given legal parameters of course!).

And yet we ask—and look—for permission.

Why selling everything might be too much

I get it. Trust me I REALLY get it. You want to sell EVERYTHING YOU KNOW. The thing with your Thing is that when you realise you’ve got this better, quicker, smarter, cheaper, more detailed, simply ‘better’ way of doing something, you want to help–and you want to give people EVERYTHING you have.

The business of problem-solving

Every business solves a problem–they solve it with a product or service that does something to fix or improve a situation, a result, an outcome, a feeling, something. This is how value is created–you have a problem that needs resolving, you go and find a product or service that can do this, you’re happy to pay as you can’t do it yourself, or do it as well/quickly/cheaply/cleverly, etc.

Obviously I am very strong proponent of the adage that people buy from people but it’s true for my business and all the business owners I work with.
