Do you believe in your Thing?
Do you believe in you?
Do you believe in what's possible?
We all have our up and down moments doing our Thing, but the key is always that you need to believe in it (even when it might not be quite working as you want it to, or making sense for you).
Your Thing is your Thing is your Thing. It's always important to remember that no-one else does your Thing like you do (even if maybe on the surface other people have your qualifications or 'do' what you do). NO ONE does your Thing the way you do it.
It's not possible that anyone else can have had the combination of experiences and know-how and stories and more that make up your Thing. Your Thing is that amazing recipe of everything you've done (and not done) up to now that you know is the answer to someone else's problem.
Your Thing solves something. It solves a problem or an issue or a frustration for someone else. And that's why you need to do your Thing.
If you're questioning your Thing that's also who you need to find—you need to make sure you're in front of the people with the problem.
It might be that you're questioning your Thing because you're not sharing it with the right people. Sometimes you question your Thing as no-one is 'getting it' or 'getting you'. Make sure you're with the right people, or that you're telling the right story (and for 'right' I mean ALL and especially the interesting parts! of your story).
We all believe that the sun will rise tomorrow and we all believe the world is round, but go back a few years (centuries, admittedly) and there were people who didn't believe in either of those things. Which I know we find laughable now, but they were very strong beliefs to some people at the time.
There might be beliefs you have that others find laughable—perhaps they don't think you can 'do it' (your Thing); perhaps they don't believe you can get paid for it (your Thing). But these people don't need your Thing—they aren't your tribe. So why are you listening to them? What YOU believe is the most important thing. VITAL!
If we'd all believed that the world was flat, no explorers would have discovered new lands and continents, we'd have no spice in our lives (literally and figuratively). What about the beliefs that man couldn't fly, or get to the moon? All beliefs man has re-wired. Run a mile in 4 minutes? Just another example.
So make sure you believe 100% in your Thing. Do your Thing like it's a given and it's absolutely yours to do. Courage is your friend. Always believe in your Thing.
